Cows singing Cow Cow Boogie -for your listening amusement and Sue loves it

June 21st. BOOK OF MORMON

Mom had wanted to go see a play at the new Smith Center Theater since it was built about a year and half ago, so I got tickets last December to go see the comedy, Book of Mormon.  Life brought about changes and I wasn't sure if it was going to happen, but indeed we did get to go.  The user there was the nicest person and sat me in a comfortable place and Mom and Dad and Joe made it to their chairs.  Well it was a terrific show and Ann, Naomi and Patti came too.  Before the show we enjoyed a delicious lunch and the play was hysterical. I would hope it would not affend any of my dear LDS friends.  In the end the story was a good and real one.  "I am a Mormon Missionary and I believe."

Breakfast with the Biscuiteers

BirchBark Foundation

Here's our Dr. Merr, the founder and creator of  the BirchBark Foundation.
A fund raiser was held yesterday and we made sea glass pendants from Agnes's (My Dear Mother-in-Law) sea glass collection that she generously gave to me before her passing.  I didn't know what I was going to do with all this beautiful glass!  Well, seems the glass has found it's way to the hearts of many and hopefully will help fund medical care for our sweet beasts who need our help.
Diane and Nance sat at the booth and sold the glass.  Aren't they just so beautiful!
Makes me so happy!  Thanks Ta's and Merr, you are a wonderful Friend, Ta Ta, Doctor and all around Human Being.  So grateful you are in my Life....and what a Life it IS!!!

You absolutely gorgeous couple!!! Sue, you and Joe look so healthy and avant garde (sp?) with your minimal coiffeurs in these photos! I’m hugging your neck every day, throughout the day, and sending my love and gratitude to you and for you!

You are at the top of the list of people for which I thank God. Your unquenchable spirit of love and acceptance has always been an inspiration. On rough days, remember the joy and freedom we experienced while skinny dipping in the Pacific. Love, love, love you!

Hi Sweet Sue-  Just found this picture yesterday hidden in a book.  It made me laugh!  You always make everything so FUN!  Even though we didn't make a whole lot of trips to see you all with Megan and Chelsea-- the times we did--you definitely always made those trips a lot of FUN!  Hope this gives you a giggle today! :)  LOTS OF LOVE!!!  XOXO...  Michelle & Warren

Fishes Abound

Just want you all to see this incredible fish tank that is at the Radiologist's Office.  There is a fellow in St. George called the "Fish Whisper" who takes care of them.  The fish are spectacular, but all the plant and coral in there is what is really so amazing!  Enjoy!!

Saying Ta Ta to Ronnie and Kurt

June 20, 2014

Didn't get a chance to Blog yesterday as we just gave into a beautiful morning, having breakfast with Ronnie and Kurt on that patio before they 'flew the coop.'  We truly had a wonderful few days together and I'm counting down till they come back.  Joe was able to take a day with Kurt to show him some of the local sites and Ronnie and I went to treatment and she got me all lined up with meds, docs, appts, just everything to keep my life running as smoothly and comfortably as possible.  She is my Muse.  We actually had beauiful cool mornings and I told them they must have brought it from Oregon!

Here are a couple of sweet pics of our Dear Friendship.

June 17the Medical Update

Well, news came back evening before last that I do not appear to have what my body needs to be able to go onto the target cell therapy that we were so hoping for.  It's ok though as now we have a real plan taking place and it might be even better!

Nikki, my Sweet and Wonderful, always encouraging PA from Laguna Hills called to tell me that chemo plus one other drug is the course of action we need to pursue at this time.  She said this is a known treatment that will help shrink the cancer and she also says it's really not that bad with the side effects.  I feel good about it and was ready to get going but they want me to complete the brain radiation treatments, 9 to go, then they will start me on the chemo.

I will have to have a little port put in my chest next week, not a big deal.  Just in and out of surgery.  It will make it a piece of cake to get the infusions.  Sounds like I will go once a week for an infusion for three weeks then I get a week off.  They will do that for three consecutive times then check to see where I'm at as far as shrinkage!!  hee heeee

Got some good news yesterday too!  I was approved via insurance to receive the XGeva.  It's an injection once a month of a newer med they use to treat osteoporosis, but in my case, it well help strenghten my bones and in turn make them feel good!!!  Got it yesterday and I think I already feel stronger!  May ask Kurt to arm wrestle me today!!!!  hee heeeee

I know all of you are sending your love my way.  I can so feel it and it makes me feel as strong as a mountain!!!  Have a great day now and always look for those silver linings!

Here are some kind of interesting photos that the radiation techs let me take...if you look closely you might see my little twin sister in there!!!  HAAAAA HAAAAAAA

HAPPY 59TH BIRTHDAY TO MY JOE TODAY!  I've loved you since I was 12 years old, more now than ever!
I love holding your hand all night long.
June 16, 2014

Got a real sweet package from two REAL SWEET NIECES!  Thank you Megan and Chelsea for such a thoughtful gift.  Joe and Shelby and I have all been trying on my new head wear!  You really picked some cute ones and they are so comfortable!!  I feel more stylish now than ever before!!!!
I especially loved your sweet words of encouragement and "What Cancer Cannot Do."

Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot carrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the Spirit.

Lip- Ti's Visit

June 15, 2014

Had the nicest day yesterday!  A Dear old (ole) friend came to visit!  We were college roommates in 1980-81, living together at the old Faculty House at Foothill College.  Lip lived on the main floor and I lived up stairs.  It was the coolest 100+ year old house where the faculty would gather in the mornings to eat donuts, drink coffee and brain storm their teaching duties!  Lip and I got to live there for free, all we had to do was have the donuts and coffee ready to go!  It was a dream for starving students.
Well, it didn't take long for Lip and I to forge a life-long friendship.
Lip-ti was traveling this week to attend a teaching conference in Arizona.  He has been home schooling his two beautiful daughter, Mina and Talise their whole lives and is extremely devoted to his professorship duties...his Girls are proof of his amazingness!
So Lip took time out of his schedule and went out of his way to come spend the day with Joe and I!  It was truly the best!
We had a really nice lunch, thanks to Patti, who brought us a delicious lasagna (Thank You Patti so much).  Lots of great conversation as always with Lip.  He and Joe talked of geology, desert, rocks and treasures.  I loved listening to them ramble on.
Lip-ti spent a lot of time working on my photos in my computer, putting them finally in a order that I can work with.  I took naps inbetween.  Lip didn't even mind!  Anna and the Girls texted us with photos during the day, so it was kind of like having them here too.  It was just a very special day for me and Joe and Shelby too as she loves Lip-ti too.  I just want to Thank You Lip for being such a wonderful, caring friend.  You gave me a great gift yesterday just being here!  I love you and Anna and Mina and Talise!!  Now here are some photos to enjoy!

Will the streets of Mesquite be safer now with Sue sporting around town?
She's taking over from where Joe left off. Get that gal a siren!!
New Sweet Life!

Have to share this with all of you!  Our Dear Neighbors, Ann and Jim have been witnessing two tiny miracles.  A sweet hummer built her nest on
"GodTwins"
top of their outdoor fan, giving them a 'bird's eye view' of the two twin eggs that have since hatched and, as you will see, there are two little bruisers up there sharing  a quickly deteriorating nest, as they prepare to 'fly the coop!'  Ann and Jim gave us the honor of becoming their Godparents, so we call the little birds our 'GodTwins!'  So Tiny, so amazing.
See Medical Update Tab for this post

Guess who snuggled
with her Mom this morning?  Shelby seems to be getting used to the 'new' me and asked to come up this morning at 3am.  I was delighted and slept like a baby next to her.  Life is good...

Glamour Day at Gamma West

June 11, 2014

Good Morning Dear Family and Friends,

Had a good and unsusual day yesterday while getting my 4th radiation treatment at Gamma West in St. George.  I like everyone there so much!  They invited me to join in on a party they throw every few weeks.  It involves getting make up done and you get a big goodie bag full of cosmetics.  It's a way of helping mostly women, but men are invited too, to learn how to make themselves look a lttle better while we are going through out treatments.  Well, you know me, [Just Sue], plain and not much of a make-up wearer...well when they told me there would be lemonade and chocolate, I was all in!!!

All of the nurses and radiation techs are mostly cute young men and sure are a lot of fun and they joined in to help...it was pretty hysterical !!  The makeup artist Lady that came asked me...ME, OF ALL PEOPLE, to be her model.  Well, after blushing at the thought, I humbly agreed.  I think she picked me because, at this time, I was the only one that still had no hair!  I thought, oh heck, just go with it....anything could be an improvement!  And I knew Mom would be thrilled as she's always thought I could do with a little makeup!

Well, we cleansed and toned and buffed and blushed and put eyebrows and eyeliner and lipstick all around.  When it was all done, I did feel pretty glamed up and the artist even tipped my hat to the side, giving me that sassy,  on the catwalk, look!!!!  I felt silly, but whooped it up!

When I came out of the party to show Joe, he got a big grin on his face!  He thinks it's funny when I strut my stuff!  Anyway, he later told me that he prefers just the regular ole me and I'm very grateful for that as I didn't really like the feel of all that on my face.  Out in the real world though it probably did look nicer.  Well, at least it was a fun experience and I did some networking with fellow people who are experiencing some of these same feelings now.

Love you all and have a wonderful day now!!!!  Tell me about you....

Getting ready....hair today gone tomorrow

June 9, 2014

Well, the time has come to get busy on our new blog as poor little Linda and Ronnie have worked so so soooo hard to get this up and running!  I’m saying this is “OUR” blog because I’m truly hoping all Family and Friends will contribute with pictures and stories about your lives too.  IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT SUE!!!!!

I guess yesterday was one of those monumental days in the life of a person going through cancer.  I was told I would be loosing my hair pretty quickly, so I decided to make it a real occasion and invite some Gal-Pals to take part in it so it wouldn’t be so scary.  Boy did we have a blast!!!!  My sweet hairdresser came over to lend a professional quality cut.  And about 14 Friends watched on and collected locks of my silly gray hair as they came off.  Even the Ta Ta’s were tuning in via their phones and a program called “zoom.”

Jasmine carved an ‘S’ on the side of my head before shaving the remainder off.  Then all the Girls slathered their lips in lipstick and planted sweet kisses all over my bald head.  So don’t be alarmed if you see red spots, as Jasmine didn’t nick me at all just those kisses!

I would just like to Thank everyone who came over to celebrate my new do and to say Thank You as well for the goodies that everyone brought.  Ronnie is happily buzzing around filling up the frig and freezer with all the delights now.

Ok, until our next blog…Life is good and happy because of all of you!

Welcome to Sue's Blog

As many of you may know-sweet Susan experienced bone pain that was determined to be metastatic cancer and over the past month has been on medication to control pain while having diagnostics run and therapeutic options determined.

She is, as always, upbeat and positive about her future and encourages everyone to keep finding those silver linings!
The good news, if you can all it that, is that Susan has non small cell adenocarcinoma which is the slower growing cancer and can be responsive to target cell therapy. She is awaiting the histopathology report that looks for the mutant gene to see if they can do targeted cell therapy, which she would much prefer. She hopes to get those results by the end of this week.

The bad news is that she did find out she has some tiny lesions (cancer) in her brain. She started radiation of her head and painful spots in St. George Utah on Friday, June 6. The treatments will last up for 18 days.

The team she is working with in St. George seem to be great and in true Sue style she is already making friends! They know she is "special" and look forward to working with her!

Will try to keep this blog updated with new information as we get it.
